Short Film
Exploring the hidden gems and treasures of Panama through social, economic, and environmental lens. In this project we were tasked to create a documentary or short film aiming to both convey and portray the truth behind Panama in whatever manner we saw fit.
Migration & Panama
Together with two other students, and myself we produced, shot and edited this poetic documentary about migration in Panama. We chose to showcase the concept and intent of our poetic documentary through a lens that understands migration solely as a basic definition, and not an issue. This short film portrays the beauty of migration, movement and the fact that it is all around us.
Poetic documentaries are considered unconventional, abstract, and experimental in the film world. I decided to do this type of documentary because I wanted to push myself and did just that. I was interested in the idea of attempting to create a documentary comprised of videos which aim to explain the definition of migration through analogies. This form of documentary making is more experimental, there are less rules and it is up to the artist and their vision to convey the intended message. The skills I took from this project was undoubtedly a greater appreciation for any genre of film production, from video or sound editing, to color grading there is a lot of work that goes into film making.
